I have a big bag of stuff to go to my cousin's baby, including several little outfits that came from another cousin, sister to the father of the new baby, so that's good. I don't think I even need to check with her about passing it on when it's that close in the family - I'll just include a note about some of the items coming from the other cousin, and I'm sure that cousin will be around often enough to identify what used to be hers.
I also have a big bag of stuff that I'm going to take to the local consignment shop, and if she doesn't want it, it'll go straight to Value Village. That includes an infant tub that has been sitting unused in a corner since Claire first learned to sit up consistently. I needed to do this a long, long time ago.
There's a bag of garbage, and there's a pile of cloth diapers that I'm going to offer to my friend who took the other cloth diapers, and there's a very large pile of stuff that needs further sorting. I'm keeping most of it, for several reasons. Some of it is stuff Claire has yet to grow into, that I loved on Elizabeth and am not ready to see go yet; some of it is going in the "treasures" box; some of it is going in the "eventual baby quilts" box; some of it is pieces of items that may turn out to be in the "treasures" box. (Specifically, two pair of fancy pants that match dresses I may have kept. If I got rid of them, then I'll get rid of the fancy pants too, but if I kept them they need to go in the treasures box.) Some of it is stuff that had no business being in Claire's room at all (towels! Three of them!) and about ten items are actually going back in Claire's room, because they still fit her but were lost under the piles of stuff.
The laundry bin, which was full of stuff that had no business being in that room, is now full of folded cloth bags that I used to move everything (and one that I discovered under the dresser.) It will go back to being a laundry bin. (It's an Ikea bin, that fits into Claire's trofast unit, and it's very useful. It's the largest size bin, and I've always used it for laundry.)
