Elizabeth met me at the door with big smiles and hugs, followed by Claire with more big smiles and hugs. They got their presents - Elizabeth wanted to wear her new Easter dress immediately, as in, to bed, and the Very Hungry Caterpillar was exactly the right book. When I put Claire to bed, she told me, "I wuv you" for the first time and snuggled in. We just sat and snuggled for a few minutes before she would agree to go to sleep.

The flights were uneventful. I made it from one end of A terminal to the other - gate four to gate seventy-eight - in Detroit with five minutes to spare until boarding time, and I got to actually see some of the ground we were flying over (or in the case of the second flight, the ice - we went up the west side of Lake Michigan and across that lake and Lake Erie.) Piet arrived just at the same time my flight did, so he was waiting for me when I left the secure area of the airport. We came straight home via downtown Buffalo, which was probably faster than Queenston-Lewiston anyway - it usually is.

I came from spring to winter. I could have done with less snow upon arrival, but I'll live.

Vacation was wonderful. I had a fabulous time, cemented some already-wonderful online friendships and developed a few new ones, and learned a lot about a part of the world I'd never seen before. I'm not rested exactly - I've had less sleep than usual the last five days - but I am refreshed. But all the same, it's good to be home.
