Hello everybody. [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae is typing this up for me as Claire nurses and Piet sits on the floor. *[livejournal.com profile] pyat waves while eating a timbit*

We've had a pretty good day overall; the paraphernalia of surgery is all gone, Claire has met most of her relatives (and charmed them all,) and I've had lots of opportunities to doze. In fact it's empting to doze while she's nursing: gotta love those endorphins. Tomorrow will be the most difficult day as my milk will not be in but Claire will be truly hungry. If all goes well, my milk should come in Tuesday, in which case we'll get to go home.

We have an appointment with the paediatric orthopaedic surgeon at McMaster on Tuesday to discus Claire's hips.

Thank you all for your kind wishes, I'm looking forward to answering everybody when I get home.

(Note from the transcriber: Erin is looking great and the baby is even cuter than the pictures suggest! Claire is so expressive and utterly charming, even at one day old. I took a couple pictures of the happy parents with their new baby girl, Expandhave a look under the cut )

Busy day today. The family from both sides arrived to visit, and when they left another mother and baby moved into our room. They're fairly quiet - a family of Iranians, women in headscarves, etc - but they did not seem to understand the restrictions on visitation numbers, at least until the evening. This severely restricted our space, and I spent much of the day perched on the end of the bed.

[livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae also stopped by, and suggested a more efficient use of floorspace, after which I spent the evening reading in a chair while Claire and [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage dozed or nursed.

Elizabeth was delighted by her little sister, and acted perfectly - gently nuzzling her, and describing how Claire's fingers were smaller than hers, and so on. When we went to the longue she announced, "Hey everybody! This is my little sister!"

Claire's hipjoints are indeed dislocated, and she will likely require a brace of some kind for several months. We'll know more later in the week.

I left the hospital about 40 mninutes ago to get some supper and come home and do laundry and so on. On a whim, I decided to stop by O'Neill's, home of the 1 lb "Pugger" burger. Alas, common sense stayed my hand, I restricted myself to a 1/2 lb Dublin Burger.

There are people setting off fireworks right now.
