An exercise in toddler logic
Nov. 5th, 2005 09:43 amIf parents won't do something, it's because they won't. Ability has nothing to do with it. Parents are supernatural beings whose job it is to make things happen that please the toddler. Therefore, there is no "can't", only "won't."
Example: If Elizabeth liked looking at the spots on the table, it is Daddy's job to put them back. He knows how. Elizabeth is quite sure that he won't do it because he doesn't want to. Of course he'd be able to if he wanted to.
The poor kid cried for five minutes because we refused adamantly to put the spots back on the table so she could look at them.
