Report cards
Mar. 2nd, 2005 04:29 pmBecause of the work to rule, I am not allowed to email my report card file to the teacher who normally does all the merging and printing. (This has to happen so that, for example, I don't have to input Science marks and comments when I don't teach Science to my kids.) I have to hand my disk directly to the principal. Since I don't have a disk, I stopped by the office this afternoon and asked what email account to send it to when I finished them this evening.
She told me she doesn't have a clue what to do with such a file if it appears in her box, so she wants each teacher to keep their files safe themselves until she figures it out.
Well.
I told her I'd upload it to my gmail account so that I could give it to her from any computer within five minutes of her asking for it. She said that was fine.
The thing is, she's not going to learn to do this within a few days. It's going to take a while. So the urgency to finish these just went right out the window. I've been home for an hour, the baby will get home in another forty-five minutes or so, and I haven't yet opened eTeacher.
As an aside, can any of you computer geeks on my friends list tell me why, when I try to answer a comment in gmail and then hit "post comment", I get an error message saying "unknown journal?" It's happened over and over again, at a time when I was actually logged in to livejournal and was trying to post to my own journal. It's weird, and rather annoying.
I'm going to do the French stuff tonight so that if she figures it out, I'll have enough done that I'm not holding up anyone else's report cards. My math I'll do at some point in the next few days. I did some correlating of marks, so at least now I know what mark each kid is getting in each strand. I can do it in forty-five minutes tops.
