The snow today is perfect. The weather is crisp but not too cold - hovering just barely below freezing. The snow on trees and rooftops keeps melting just enough to fall off, landing with a splatt on the people and piles of snow beneath them. Because it's fairly warm, the snow that fell this morning is perfect packing snow. I have never seen a better winter day for playing outside. Even the sun is cooperating. If it were fully out, the day would be too bright and the snow would be melting. Because it's hiding behind clouds, it's possible to see without squinting.
Accordingly, right after nap time, Elizabeth and I suited up to go outside. It turns out the snowpants were counter-productive; Elizabeth is afraid of falling over while she wears them, so she hardly moved. I, however, was quite happy to make a snowman and show her how. After we made it, we went inside to get clothes and features for it. 'Noman now has a hat, eyess, nosse, mouf, and sharpe (écharpe, scarf). The bag of raisins is considerably lighter; for every one that decorated our creation, three went in Elizabeth's mouth.
Rather than going inside again for the camera, I threw a snowball at the window of the back room. Piet realized what we wanted and came out. I present to you the fruits of our twenty minutes of labour:
