Dec. 11th, 2004 11:09 amI worked out this morning, for the first time this week. My ankle and chest were both cooperating, which was nice. I've got that tingly post-workout feeling, like every muscle is singing.
My voice has recovered to nearly-normal. I think I should avoid singing for another day or two, but otherwise, it's all good. I shudder to think what I would have sounded like this morning if I'd gone to work yesterday.
I have to go out at some point today and buy some little trinkets for the kids in my class, as well as Christmas cards. When my limit for the whole class is $20, it's a bit of a challenge. I'm thinking candy canes and cards again. It seems to be my standard. And I'm not doing anything for my literacy group. It will be up to their homeroom teachers to do something for them - I can't afford it.
Two of the grade fives moved yesterday. One was in the other class, but was in my lit group. He's lazy, rude, and sneaky. I did a little dance when I found out he was moving. The other is in my homeroom class but not my lit group. He's the sweetest kid you ever met, friend of the friendless, funny, thoughtful, and smart. I'm sorry I didn't get to say good-bye to him, and I'm very sorry he's going. Even if that does take my French class down to a more manageable 33 kids.
I just hope no new ones move in to replace them. We're overflowing at the moment, and it's all in the junior classes. Primary kids can move in - just no one higher than grade 2.
I need to get writing now. I want to finish the knife lesson scene, and I want to start the Salthaven scene. The connecting bits will have to wait.
