Interview Day
Dec. 3rd, 2004 09:34 amAfter having all but one parent show up last night, I have so far this morning had one cancellation and one apparent no-show. Both surprised me, because they're good kids. Generally, the good kids have good parents, and good parents come for interviews. One of them is moving next week, though, so that probably has something to do with it.
I have two more interviews confirmed, and one more I think won't show. That gives me two hours to clean my desk, get organized for my evaluation, plan for next week, and mark. I seriously doubt I'll finish most of that. The marking, at least, can wait until another day. It seems it always does. On the plus side, my desk is clearer than it's been in weeks, since I spend the time waiting for no-shows straightening it.
My new kid is really bright, and an overachiever. I can now say that I have a really bright, overachieving boy in my class! Bright, overachieving girls are a dime a dozen around here, but boys are rarer. I have a surfeit of bright-but-bored boys.
Plans for my afternoon off include: a haircut, a shopping trip (short), a workout, a session of fiddling on the piano, and maybe a chapter or two. I'm looking forward to it.
