1) He sings the worst, funniest karaoke in the history of the art.

2) He was nervous about holding a newborn, and then wouldn't let her go to anyone else.

3) He talks in shouts, but they're always entertaining shouts.

4) You get the occasional impression of deep thoughts, and when you really want to discuss the deep thoughts, he will, and he'll do it well. But he'd rather be the clown of the party. I get hung up on the deep thoughts. Justin unhooks me.

5) He throws a really good dinner party, with Senora Bitter, of course. He's a really good cook, too.

There are other things, but this is a good start. I have to go mark math tests now.

Dragonlass is sitting in my lap, poking at the lettering on my sweatshirt and counting, with a fair level of accuracy, in French to about seven. She regularly stops this fascinating pursuit to bang her head against my arm or eat my hair. (Apparently it's yummy - her word, not mine. Is there anything in Alberto mousse that will impede her development if she puts a bit of my hair in her mouth from time to time? )

This just in - Mommy's hair: "I like it." "Nice cheveux." "Yum yum."

Have I mentioned before that I have the world's most wonderful toddler?

My book

Well, I just printed out everything I have officially written of my book, for the benefit of [livejournal.com profile] rainwolf, who will soon be done the term-from-hell and will hopefully find time to read it.

It came out to 50 pages, of which 47 are closely typed and three were a few lines each. I counted 48 pages for the purposes of word count estimation.

48 pages times 500 words per page = 24 000 words.

This is not including the character journals and such that will form most of the end of the book, because I'm not touching them to edit for actual content until the rest of the narrative catches up to them. If I included these, my estimate is that I'd be around 30 000 words.

Not too bad for someone with no time to write.

I need to go back and start adding in dream sequences after they find the treasure. Salvatore should be getting an inkling of where they're supposed to be heading by the time they get to Port Spar, but I didn't include any of that yet. Also, I haven't finished the Port Spar stuff or anything after it. I skipped to the slave-auction scene because it was more fun to write.

I'm going to shoot for the first dream sequence by the end of the week. I also want to get Rianna's entrance scene written on the weekend. It's stuff to shoot for, anyhow.
