Thanksgiving
Sep. 3rd, 2004 02:26 pmI held my daughter as she went back to sleep just now. I watched her eyelids flutter before she sighed and settled. I listened to the birds in the trees behind our house, and the fountain in the garden next door. And I thanked God for the peace we enjoy in Canada, for the climate which isn't forcing me out of my home, for the school I will go to next week which will not be attacked by terrorists. Then I thanked Him for my beautiful, smart little girl and for giving me the means and knowledge to give her a good life.
Then I prayed for all those in the news today who do not have these blessings, or have recently lost them through no fault of their own. I thanked him for all the people who have suffered that I might enjoy these things today. And I asked for his forgiveness for sometimes forgetting just how many blessings I enjoy.
