early morning blahs
Jul. 27th, 2004 06:10 amIt is 6:10 a.m. I have been up at this point for twenty-five minutes. I have been mostly awake for a good half hour before that. After getting up to put Elizabeth back in her own bed, I discovered that going back to sleep was simply not going to happen.
It's not as though I'm chipper and ready for the day. On the contrary, Elizabeth was up three times and didn't go down in the first place until eleven o'clock. I need my sleep. I just don't seem able to get any.
We had a good day yesterday, in spite of nasty weather. We went to the library, and got three French books for Elizabeth, an English book for me. (I wonder if I'll actually start reading in French when Elizabeth realizes there's a difference between her books and mine other than age level? Something to think about. . . ) We sat on the porch and watched the wind blow bubbles for us, rather than going to all the work of blowing them ourselves. We watched the cat from two doors down, stalking a flower which was blowing in the wind, and commented extensively on the "maow". We watched the big trucks delivering dumpsters to the school across the street, which is having some construction work done over the summer. I heard something that sounded a lot like "camion". I'm certain I heard her say "Bye bye Dot" in reference to the next door neighbour. We played with alphabet blocks (that is, I stacked them and she knocked them down, crying, "Bock! Bock!" gleefully the whole time.) We read Robert Munsch's "Mmm. . . Cookies", in French. She loved the onomatopoeia words in it and was making them with me within two pages. All in all, a good day.
I think I'm ready to try going back to bed for an hour or so. Hopefully the little lass will stay asleep that long, because I don't think Pyat wants to get up to her, either.
