When dressing for spring. . .

First ensure that the weather is going to co-operate.
Then check that all necessary clothes are clean and ready to go.
Then think back to when you last wore some of the more memorable bits of the outfit. If it was within the same calendar week, you may wish to rethink.
Paint toenails to match skirt.
I actually did most of this. I forgot to check the weather before choosing the outfit, with the result that my toes will likely match the skirt (lilac) by the time my outdoor duty is finished. I wore this same top two days ago, but it's been washed and I care more about the look than I do about wardrobe etiquette today. I feel like I look good, and it turns out this skirt and these sandals are really, really comfy. I think my kids are going to see a lot of this skirt this spring.
I don't want to buy a whole bunch of clothes for spring/summer this year. I expect to be "increasing" by the end of summer, which will mean I can dig out last summer's too-big capris to carry me over the transition into mat wear. I have one pair of shorts and one pair of capris that still work from several years ago, and with this skirt, I really don't need much else. (I will most likely buy at least one pair of capris this year - I really liked some of the ones in Fashion Max last weekend. But I won't buy really good quality ones when I know my shape is about to change yet again.)
I'm considering writing an email to the company that makes my sandals. The gist of it is: they're sooo comfortable, can you make them in a colour worn by people who aren't redheads? These sandals came in dark brown, orange, and a browny taupe. I never, ever wear brown. I can't remember the last time I wore brown above the ankle. I wear orange only on Halloween, and it's not that burnt-umber orange when I do. I would have bought any shade of blue if they'd had it, or black, and I would have considered a funky colour. (Sandals to match my purple coat!) I wasn't all that pleased to be stuck with brown.
I have to go plan an art lesson. Two days to the weekend!
