Sounds like we're close to agreement now, then. I did do some reconsidering overnight.

I think some of the disagreement between you and I on this has been in emphasis. You generally emphasize that most kids can be taught together given adequate support, while I, due to my extremely negative experiences with overly integrated low-support educational settings, emphasize that a non-streamed environment with traditional teaching methods and with gifted/LD kids integrated doesn't work. I'm guessing you would be more comfortable with my statements if I emphasized more that a non-streamed setting would work better with higher support and the exclusion of gifted/LD kids than what I experienced in my integrated middle school subjects did. I know I'd definitely be more comfortable with the stuff you say about streaming if you emphasized that the top 2-3% of the population do need gifted classes and that the bottom few percent need either special classes or EA support. Does this make sense to you?
