They're used to having to do it, and it gives them good experience at making connections between varied math concepts. For today's lesson, we looked at their knowledge of pattern rules, which they've been doing since grade three; measurement and geometry, especially the bit about squares having four sides of equal length and angle measurements; and of course the idea of co-ordinate grids themselves. It makes the learning much deeper.
