In France, the entire wedding party will remove themselves from the church to the town hall down the street. Weddings never happen on a Saturday because city hall isn't open on the weekends, so if you want to attend the wedding, you must take the day off work.

Part of my dad's concern is that the church will be told all their refusals are discriminatory and unconstitutional. I'm not sure if this is the Church being paranoid or if it comes from the stated intentions of some groups to force the issue as far as they can. My dad is rather reactionary in his views on this, so I can't be sure.
