But my IT husband got it immediately!

Owww...

I'm a geek, and I don't get it. You sure it isn't a nerd thing?

[identity profile] velvetpage.livejournal.com 2007-08-24 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe. Here's a hint: "It's not a bug, it's a . . ."

Yellow and green Volkswagen beetle with a license plate that says legend.

I think I'm missing something.

[identity profile] velvetpage.livejournal.com 2007-08-24 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I think the license plate says, "feature." It's an IT joke, primarily about Microsoft products where they list the stupidity in the owner's manual as a feature so nobody can complain about it. "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"

[identity profile] redeem147.livejournal.com 2007-08-24 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Feature. Sorry. See how much I understood it.

Definitely a nerd joke.

Man, that's so totally how I do my QA work!

[identity profile] momentrabbit.livejournal.com 2007-08-24 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Not only did I get it instantly, I used the phrase in conversation with another IT boffin about Outlook 'security features' in the last week.

Oh yes. I'm hardcore. Real Soon Now. 640K. World market of perhaps 5 computers. I'm there. :)

Is that a Washington state plate? I can't tell. It looks like it might be Illinois. I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I clicked on the link, else I'd be needing a new keyboard, monitor, PDA (because it recharges between kb and monitor) and KVM switch.

Snrk.

[identity profile] dornbeast.livejournal.com 2007-08-24 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're right about the Illinois plate; the upper left corner seems to match what I remember about such license plates.

I'm fairly certain it isn't a Washington plate.

got it, but it took me a minute to be perfectly honest.

[identity profile] velvetpage.livejournal.com 2007-08-24 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
To be perfectly honest . . . me too. :)

Love it! Not only did it give me a laugh, but I sent the URL to an IT friend at work -- and he reportedly splorted his drink! ;)
