From Toad_hall

I give you . . . the the net Omas.

That is fabulous.

For those whose German is even poorer than mine, it looks to me like you hire one of them to knit for you. ([livejournal.com profile] melstra, did I get that right? My German is rustier than a '57 Chevvy left in a field since 1982.)

yes, they will knit socks for you. for just under 30 euros.

Courtesy of Babel Fish - it's a little TOO literal so it sounds funny, but anyway...

"Come into the good room of our NetGrannys. By mouse-click in the photo of your Wunschoma can you our sock offer order. The Grannies with the star knits again also arm tulips!"

The arm tulip thing cracked me up! I'm sure it's something colloquial that Babel Fish just gacked on!

Yep, that's it alright. Though as toad_hall notes, it's rather pricey. $45 or so for a pair of socks is way too high for me. Now going in the other direction? Getting PAID $45 for knitting some socks? My mom could totally handle that. :)

Btw, Armstulpen are sort of like legwarmers for your arms-- gauntets with little holes for your thumb. Kind of odd, but probably helpful in cold areas.

I love it! The Internets can't be that bad a place if there are Omas on it....
