Eight years ago today, Piet and I were married. It was scorching hot, breath-stealingly humid, and otherwise typical of late June. It was eighteen months to the day after we got engaged.

Oh, we will, just not tonight. The celebration will involve dinner and a play at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Sunday.
