I've done more basic chores since 9:00 this morning than I've done all summer. I did three loads of laundry, folded and put away the baby laundry, sorted some of her drawers and eliminated outgrown clothing from them (note to self: this weekend, must go to Home Depot to get some more storage bins to match the ones in the basement.) I managed throughout this process to keep Elizabeth interested in two tea towels and a collection of her own toys, so I only had to do most of the folding once. (part of the reason I often don't get to the put-away stage is that she likes to unfold clothes as I'm making piles of neatly folded laundry around the back room. Alternatives: use precious nap time to do chores, fold in the basement while leaving her alone on the main floor which is not a good idea, or fold everything multiple times. Usually, I choose option #4 - wait for Pyat to get home.)
Then, I unloaded the clean dishes from the dishwasher, handwashed everything that was lying around, wiped counters and stoves and generally tidied. I cleaned the bathroom sink, while Elizabeth looked on and waved bye-bye to the suds going down the drain.
If I'm still feeling energetic tomorrow, maybe I'll wash the kitchen floor.
THen again, maybe I should concentrate on getting rid of the large piles of laundry still waiting to be washed.
We'll see what happens.
