Euchre, anyone?
Anyone in the Hamilton area, or near enough and willing to drive, who wishes to play Euchre against myself and ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
wggthegnoll, we would be very, very interested in playing you.
Also, if anyone happens to know of any euchre tournaments in the immediate area, that would be really cool.
I've missed card games the last few years. I used to play euchre pretty much constantly in high school and university. I was an accomplished deck-stacker and had a standard arsenal of partner signals with my group of friends - different depending on who the partner was, of course. I've lost many of those skills. I doubt I could stack much more than one card for myself and maybe one for my partner at the moment. That doesn't matter if I'm playing against people who aren't going to cheat. In university, of course, it's not cheating unless you get caught.
But Piet doesn't care much for card games, my best friend Melissa lives in Brampton now, and I'm no longer seeing most of the SOCS people from university, so I don't have anyone to play euchre with. Even my family doesn't play much anymore. We're too busy chasing toddlers, or there aren't enough of us who want to play, or something. So my card decks languish in the drawer of the microwave cart, still virgin, still unmarked by the half-deck discoloration that is the sign of a well-used euchre deck. It's tragic.
