Murphy's Law of Parenting a Toddler

The night when you are late to bed but have to be up in reasonable time will be the night your toddler is up six times in the night. The time when you get up to her without putting on glasses or slippers, as you normally would, will be the time when she announces, "Poopy diaper, mommy! Need nouvelle couche!"

Piet's asleep, and I really wish I could be. But Elizabeth is definitely up, and one of us has to be up with her.

It never fails! The night you stay up late will be the morning your toddler wakes up early. And the day you have to be up early will be the night they don't sleep. It's like they have some sort of built-in sleep deprivation radar.

What really scares me is how much I want another baby, even knowing that the younger the child, the less sleep one gets.

I'm going back to bed.
