I *love* the "Log Driver's Waltz"-- I first heard it on New Year's Eve 2000 when Jeff and I went to a "First Night Toronto" screening of old Canadian NFB shorts-- so many cool ones there! We now own two DVDs of them actually, including this piece of course. And in listening to the piano part, I was just inspired to pick up a copy of the sheet music online.
As for the other piece, I've known that one a long time too. Believe it or not, my family has an old music box that plays it-- it's a weird little affair that is actually a cigarette dispenser-- a dog comes up out of the box and holds a cigarette in its paws!!
I've only ever known the title phrase for "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes," until I was flipping through my fake book a week or so ago and played my way through it for fun. It's been stuck in my head ever since, and I've gotten it sounding pretty good.
