I have had this book on my Amazon wish list for a while and may resort to buying it myself. I heard the author on NPR (I think it was on "The Splendid Table"-- a wonderful radio show, btw, available as a podcast) and it was so cool! I love the concept as that's a good bit of how I cook anyway.
I bought it. My daughter has started using it. It seems to work. What I like about it is that it presents the essence of a recipe, and then shows variations. You can easily adapt to what you have on hand.
