If you like to order yarns online, try this site. It's commercially available yarn, a fairly good selection, and their prices are pretty good even when you take shipping into account. Personally, I hate going to Michael's - I always come out with a bunch of crap I don't need - so when shopping for yarn for specific projects or stashbuilders, I tend to go for online stores. This one, the shipping is from Canada, so it's less than shipping the equivalent amount across the border.

Wow. They're asking (on average) $2+ MORE per ball compared to my local prices -- and shipping on top of that.

Really? They're asking enough less than my local prices that it's just about even with shipping for the yarns that aren't on sale, and the yarns that ARE on sale are much cheaper.
