I think it would be very, very easy to take his disciplinary methods too harshly, and make them abusive. My impression is that his stance is a little too authoritarian for a good family life; that said, I know there are people who needed some guidance, who got it from him. His stance on homosexuality is one of several things that I dislike; that, and the insistence on corporal punishment, make me wonder. But I'm glad others have had a positive experience with his books.
