If I were making something to be more solid, I'd probably have gone with a Bernat Handicrafter. It comes in a good range of colours and works up nicely, and it's baby-friendly. I was looking for the lightest-possible really-thick yarn so I could make it in a weekend - and I did, in fact, finish it earlier. Piet finds it ugly, and I'm not thrilled with it as a garment, but I'll use it as a combination layette/nursing blanket when I need to.

I may see if I can find a more solid pattern, and make something out of the bernat yarn.
