Well, that's better.

My throat is still scratchy, but I'm not nearly as stiff and i actually slept last night. No headache, either.

The rash we thought was chickenpox? It's not. It may have been a heat rash, or a minor allergic reaction to something. But it's not chickenpox, and it's all better, so she's going to daycare today.

All of which means this is my writing day!

I'm still going to call a masseuse I know and make an appointment, because [livejournal.com profile] mizheekay was right - I'm much stiffer than I should be. It occurred to me that one of Elizabeth's favourite games in the back room is to have me sit on the couch, and then she climbs all over me, spending quite a bit of time lying across the back of my neck. That, plus the occasional moments when I carry her on my shoulders (that happens mostly when both strollers are in the car and we have to go somewhere on foot) and an office chair that is a long way from ergonomic, and it's no wonder my back and neck are out of whack. That said, I'm not crazy about chiropractors in general, so I'll try the massage route first. I think Piet even has coverage for it in his benefit plan that's better than my coverage. (My benefit plan allows me to claim $10 for each visit. That's one quarter of a half-hour massage - pathetic, really.)

Gotta get the little lady ready for school, and get breakfast, and otherwise start the day.

Good morning everyone!

Good morning! Glad to hear you're feeling somewhat better. Headaches/backaches are no fun- I know whereof you speak. ;)

Thank goodness re: you feeling a bit better and Elizabeth not having the chicken pox after all! I hope this means you guys get to relax a bit... just in time for the next heatwave... :)

I don't know if it's the same with every plan, but the way it worked for us when Alex still had a plan, too, was that his plan would cover what it covered, and then my plan would cover the balance. Worked out very well, but was a bit of a pain when submitting claims. Take advantage of whatever you can -- and don't feel guilty about it or anything, because most people never use their plans to their maximum advantage. If you've got it, use it, says I. :)

Have a lovely time writing today. I hope it goes swimmingly!

It seems to me Piet's plan covers a certain amount per year, but when that's gone, there is no more. I haven't used any of it yet, so I should be able to get it fully covered. I'll get him to look it up when he gets to work.

Yeah, heatwaves. Don'tcha just love this summer?

[identity profile] anidada.livejournal.com 2005-08-02 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. Let's do this year round! *snort* Seriously, if it would stay around 20C year round and not also be rainy all the time, I'd be happy. This, however, is all kinds of bad. :P

Coverage is usually proportionate -- so, if it were just Piet on the plan and the maximum per year was $500 for massage therapy, say, he'd be cut off at $500. With family level, he would get $500, you get $500, and Elizabeth would get $500. At least, that's how it works IME. Obviously worth checking out. :)

In any case, there's no way we're using even one person's entire allotment, so that's just fine by me. :)

Your family should have stayed in the Old Country. Isn't Scotland a lot like that, weather-wise?

[identity profile] anidada.livejournal.com 2005-08-02 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Both times I've been back, I've been tempted to stay just because of the weather. It's just not practical, though, for a million reasons. Plus, a little bit too rainy at times (rather like BC). But it was amazing, feeling comfortable in my own skin, breathing deeply...

I suspect that a lot of folks must have similar issues. Maybe the people we see wearing coats in this weather are originally from warmer climes. *shrug*

It rather sounded to me like the viral exantham seen in roseola.

As for your chiropractic mullings, have you tried stretching before any serious exuberance with Elizabeth? The two of you could make it a game together.

Hmm. I make a point of stretching before and after workouts, but her gymnastics with me as the gymnastic equipment are usually less planned than that. I'll try, though.

Roseola, eh? I'll google that forthwith, and see what it looks like. If that is what it was, she just spread it to her daycare class.
