Writing on a Friday morning

Well, I got a bit of writing done this morning. My wonderful MIL called at 7:55 and asked if I'd let her take Elizabeth out to Uncle Frank's, where Opa was going to pick raspberries while Oma did things for Uncle Frank.

Elizabeth, naturally, is picking raspberries, and Mommy wrote about eight hundred words.

Some of you may remember that dark bit I did back in April about the Ciryllium Mines. I just incorporated it into the book. I now have approximately 13 000 words of this book, including all of the stuff I wrote in little, isolated scenes back in April. The main plot hook fell into place yesterday, the big Quest has begun, and the ciryllium mines mark the debut of the first secondary plot. (Does that make sense to anyone but me?) Yesterday's discussion of dolphin milieu and perception was very helpful.

Oma brought "A Ring of Endless Light" to lend me today. :)

I'm going to get a snack, and a drink, and dip into one of the books I've got. I made it to the local used bookstore yesterday, with twelve volumes to sell to them. They took eight off my hands, and I bought four more with the credit, so I've netted four books less. I may take the other four, the ones they didn't take, and donate them somewhere. I wonder if there will be another drive for northern libraries any time soon?

The used book store where I often sell books will take even the ones they don't want to buy and donate them to the library. Probably, they get a tax write-off for the donations, which helps support them even more. They're a great bookstore, so I don't mind. Plus, it's less hassle for me. I take in a huge box every now and again.

This store doesn't do that. They take most paperbacks if they're in good condition and they don't already have several copies of the same book. In the case of these four, they were large-print-run romance novels, good books within their genre, but not the kind you keep after you've read them once or twice. I'll see about a library donation next week sometime.
