Elizabeth woke up at 4:00 a.m. and was up on and off after that. I was not sleeping well before that, so I'm a bit of a zombie today. I'm on my second cup of tea, and I must confess that I let them steep too long and squeezed the teabags to get every drop of caffeine out of them. Bitter, but better than coffee.

I'm supposed to be meeting with the literacy teacher soon to get started on setting up literacy centres. This is one of those things where you work your butt off for two weeks getting them set up, and after that it runs with only minor tweaks for the rest of the year. At least, that's how it goes in theory. I really hope it works, and I hope we can get it set to start before the work-to-rule is stepped up.

I spent some time last night on a plot outline and characters for the dolphin book. The way it's shaping up so far, this is going to be a much deeper novel than Dreamcarver. It's the plot-line-as-a-microcosm-of-societal-change idea. I'm going to paint the society in as much detail as I can, while weaving a complex plot through it. It should be fun. Even better, it should sell. :)

I'm going to do pretty basic stuff today, because I have no energy to do anything else. And woe betide the kid who talks back to me this morning. I'm likely to bite their head off and hand it back to them on a platter. I think I should warn them when they come in to beware the sleep-deprived mom who is teaching them today.

Microwave with the teabag in???? What kind of second-gen brit would that make me? I boil the water first, then pour it over the teabag.

But I'll look for the stronger blends.

Well, I'm ex-Welsh if anything, so the actual Saes wouldn't have any respect for me anyways. Still, tossing a teabag into the meicrodeon and running around catching and dressing the baby, etc, is a pretty important part of the early morning routine.

I boil the heck out of the kettle, and if I don't get to it while it's still bubbling to make the tea, I boil it again. A nice electric kettle with an off switch works well for this.
