There's dangers inherent in any nuanced worldview. If we allow others to counter-define our arguments to us, we're once again giving ground we should hold. And a nuanced worldview including as many elements as possible of the human experience is something worth holding.
We may win the battle for the intelligentsia who are willing to discover the nuances for themselves. But we'll lose the war if we do not insist that scientific people have a spiritual side and a spiritual practice inherent in their intellectual pursuits.
