It's difficult to talk about the whole movement, because there's at least three distinct branches of it - those homeschooling for religious reasons, those homeschooling because they don't believe school will work for those kids, and unschoolers, to name three - and there's so much inter-connectedness between them.
My belief in a nutshell is that homeschooling CAN work, and well, but that there are pitfalls that many parents are not equipped to address. It's not the best solution to a lot of the problems it purports to solve.
