I have to admit that I can see the point here, because the Canadian courts, in particular the Supreme Court, have a bad habit of siding with the most liberal group. I'm not one-hundred-percent convinced that the courts would find in favour of the Church's position here. I think that's the real problem - everyone knows that the laws aren't made by Parliament, they're made by the supreme court when it decides whether a certain law is in line with the constitution. The court right now is stacked with some very left-wing socialist types, and it's hard to say which way it will go.

Of course, it's hard to say if anyone will bother to bring this up in court in the first place. It could be the Baptists wagging their jaws and fear-mongering. We won't know until it happens.
